Only 14 can go around, so there will be plenty of scratchings. BAY OF THE SOUTH (4) is in the premier stable and has placed in both of her race starts when well supported. She's free running and has the gate speed to manage the awkward barrier. With average luck she can break through. MAFIOSA (10) resumed improved beaten 1.8L at Toowoomba and will be better for it. He positions forward and should get every chance. HAPPY WINS (9) is in a leading metro stable and has trialled well for her return. She will be naturally improved and went close on a slow track at Ipswich two starts back on debut. She will likely jump from the outside gate and need a clever ride. CHEVALLUM (2) debuts and has switched from a NZ yard. He's been a while coming to the races but won a recent Doomben trial and looks to have good ability. The betting will be key.
