It may not prove a vintage renewal of the French Derby but DETAIN produced a career best when third in this year's race and he sets the standard back down in class. Trinity College belied expectations when a close fourth at Chantilly and can go well again, while High Stock ran a race full of promise when runner-up on only his second career start in the Dee Stakes and may well progress again. Of the rest, 2000 Guineas fourth Tornado Alert and Jackknife both appeal now tackling 1¼m.

Superbly bred colt hasn't always looked the most straightforward but excelled himself when a close fourth in the French Derby 18 days ago, although seen to maximum effect in a race where it paid to be handy. Strong claims if he can back that up.

Promising juvenile last season and has developed into a smart 3-y-o, ran as well as could be expected with sixth in the French 2000 Guineas (left with too much to do) and duly improved for the longer trip when a close third in the French Derby 18 days ago. That form sets the standard here.

Dubawi colt made a winning debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket (1m) prior to showing much improved form up in class/trip when runner-up in the Dee Stakes at Chester (10f), having missed the break. Likely to progress further on only his third career start and could prove a danger to all.

Half-brother to high-class winner up to 13f Defoe and confirmed himself a useful prospect following Epsom debut success when an unlucky third in the Heron at Sandown (1m) last month, travelled fluently and finished well having been denied a clear run. Open to further improvement upped in trip.

Won 1m AW maiden in October. Took a big step forward when 4½ lengths fourth to Ruling Court in the 2000 Guineas on return but seemed stretched by the trip when sixth in the Derby 12 days ago. Could be interesting back at 1¼m.

Steadily improved as a juvenile and has carried on that progression into this season, building on winning reappearance when landing an all-weather listed race at Newcastle (1m) in April. Remains open to improvement for all this is a very different test over 10f back on turf.

Needed debut run when sixth in a strong Kempton maiden. Progressive since making it 2-2 in novice company when beating another useful sort (won subsequently) at Salisbury (9.9f), still looking green under pressure. Improving sort is in excellent hands but this requires another step forward.

Built on debut promise when winning 20-runner maiden at Navan and confirmed himself a useful prospect when finishing first past the post in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh, subsequently demoted having caused interference (hung right and left). Juvenile form has worked out well and is on the up as a 3-y-o. Shade unlucky not to win the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes at Curragh (10f) last month, just denied having suffered significant interference from Reyenzi. Respected but this is tougher and we may see the best of him over 1½m.

Victorious on final 2-y-o start and followed up in a 1¼m Nottingham handicap on reappearance this season. Sea The Stars colt who sprung a 40/1 surprise in the Blue Riband at Epsom. Wasn't disgraced in the Dante next time but below form when finishing down the field in the Derby having raced too keenly. Could be vulnerable to a more progressive type back in trip.

Off the mark on debut (Dundalk, 1m) in February and confirmed himself a useful colt when third in what proved to be a strong Ballysax over 10f next time. Ran in a couple of strong all-weather races at 2 yrs and showed marked improvement on reappearance when landing a 1m Windsor maiden. Still green when a well backed third on handicap debut at Haydock (8.2f) last month. Could be more to come over this longer trip but this is a marked step up in class.
