ISLAND DEC (8) dropped sharply in grade but gave away too much start on a heavy surface at Canterbury last time out. Kept fresh since that outing a month ago. Gets some weight relief and has drawn favourably so a big run at odds is on the cards. POWER BALLARD (7) led but couldn't sustain the pressure when a close fifth first-up over 1250m at the Kensington track. Has a far better record at this trip so with the run under the belt she poses a serious threat. POWER OF THE BRAVE (2) was flying at the provincials before a commendable effort in a good BM68 over 1000m at Gosford recently. Genuine type who is well in after Stanley's claim and should make his presence felt. MASSIRA (3) got too far back at Scone last time but made late inroads. Needs luck from the wide alley but is too honest to rule out. CATAHOULA (11) is fitter for two runs back from a spell and might be a big improver with blinkers on for the first time.
