TONIA'S DRAGON (6) was probably half a run short on the first day when finishing a game sixth after racing on the pace for most of the journey. She has a handy gate, and if the rails are playing fair, then she is the one to beat. CANASTA (3) ran on gamely at Oamaru nearly 3 weeks ago over 1200m and will strip fitter second up. She has a fair amount of upside and did win her maiden over a mile last spring. Stick with her. INTERCEPT (5) ran out of condition on the first day and dropped out to finish near the rear. She will improve quickly with racing, and the extra furlong will also suit her. Include in all combinations. HIGHLAND FLING (1) failed to fire a month ago on the poly course here, but is better than that when his mind is on the job. He is worth another chance at some each-way value. LATENIGHT GALAXY (2) won his maiden by a nose at Ashburton and then was close up in fifth in a similar field here on the first day. A wide draw might help at this time of the day, so include.
