The Group 2 Australia Stakes, won by the likes of Black Caviar, this year run at Pakenham of all places. WAR MACHINE (1) is clearly the class of the field. He won the G1 Stradbroke Handicap in fine style over the Winter, resuming with a fast win in the G2 Gilgai with 60kg at Flemington. That saw him start $10 to beat Ka Ying Rising in The Everest which didn't work out, but he's trialled well and is exceptionally placed at the set weights. HEDGED (4) is a tricky one. He's been up a long time and was awful in the G3 Standish last time but he's bounced back quickly in the past having beaten NADAL (5) at Sandown two back. Nadal hasn't quite been able to recapture his best form this time in, but 1200m on the big track here should suit nicely. VEIGHT (2) is a class horse when right which we haven't seen for some time, but he's jumped out well and is worth watching the market. JIMMY RECARD (8) is a handy 3yo resuming who faces a good test.
