STAIRWAY (4) resumes. He started a well-backed $2.20 favourite on debut at Ballarat Synthetic, running an even race for fifth, and was spelled thereafter. Returns of a decent spell and draws ideally with Lane booked. Could repay the faith fresh. STAR RULER (5) has run fourth in both starts back from a spell, only beaten 1.9 lengths at Sale over this trip second up. He gets every chance from the draw here and can run a good race. GIBRALTAR TYCOON (8) hit the line nicely on debut at Echuca, settling last but charging home into fourth over 1100m. Should relish this trip based on that, but does draw to potentially get back again. DEFENSE TYCOON (1) wasn't bad fresh at Mornington and can improve while ZE BEE NINE (6) should appreciate a rise in trip third up.
