OSCARS NO GROUCH (4) has trialled impressively in readiness for this under Jason Whiting and looks ready to fire on debut. The inside draw should see him get every chance from the barrier. Looks a good maiden, but his trials suggest he's one of the leading contenders. BY THE WOOD (9) is an exciting prospect on debut, out of the G3 winning Perth mare Fabergino. Pike was on board for both trials, with her latest outing the most impressive when sitting close to the speed. Pike has options from the barrier and she appears the main danger. ROAMING AMERICA (5) has shown good signs at the trials for the Mack Hall stable and was only gunned down by a smart one in his most recent trial. Showed speed there, so if he can get across from the wide gate he'll give them something to chase. I'M A SOULMAN (3) just missed first-up in a strong performance and has winning claims on the back of that effort. VALANNE DAWN (6) trialled well coming in and is not to be discounted.
