Verdict

SOUTHPORT TYCOON (1) clearly on top. His best distance is still up in the air but he's a Group 1 Manikato Stakes winner over this track and trip, charging home to knock off Growing Empire (subsequent 3rd in The Everest). He rates clear at the set weights and if he's anywhere wound up, class should get him over the line. IT'SOURTIME (3) is consistent and got the job done in the Standish last time. Interestingly, he's never raced here. STEPARTY (2) resumes off a let up. He can sprint well and was in consistently strong form last preparation. SCHWARZ (5) resumes. He flopped at his only run last time but does have ability and has trialled very nicely. He needs to put it all together. SEMILLION (4) might be an improver at big odds.
