VERHOEVEN (5) peaks and is ready to win. He didn't have the best of it at Geelong last time, and Ben Allen steers from a soft barrier. He's in a leading metro yard, and his narrow defeat at Sandown at the back of his first campaign reads particularly well. TOYZ IN ZOULAND (14) jumped out well but needed the run at Bendigo first-up. She's also in good hands and draws inside with a 1.5kg claimer up. Her debut effort was good, and she's a quick improver. SHEEZ ELEGANT (11) went close at Ballarat first-up when expected to need it. Presents fitter and Craig Williams is a key jockey engagement. He's likely to use the inside barrier, and it's hard to risk the premier yard. SURFIN' BIRD (13) debuts and is also in sharp metro hands. She's jumped out well and from a nice gate will likely position forward. The betting will be key.
