ALSHADHIAN did the job in the manner of one well ahead of the handicapper at Southwell last week and, open to improvement in this sphere, he will take plenty of stopping under a penalty. Though he failed to justify strong support on his chase debut at Ffos Las, La Quarite showed a definite aptitude for this game and he is also capable of better, while Blackijo Dagrostis surely won't be far away if able to build on his first run over fences here 17 days ago.

    Verdict
Fair maiden at best on the Flat and left previous jumps form well behind when running out the easy winner of a Southwell handicap chase (15.8f, good) last week. That was effectively his chase debut (unseated early on actual debut in this sphere) and will prove very hard to beat under a penalty.

Winless following 8 attempts between the flags and modest form over hurdles. However, he found just one too good on recent chase debut and should make his presence felt off the same mark.

Won Gowran maiden on final start for Gordon Elliott in September 2023 but has offered little for present connections, including when beaten a long way on recent chase debut.

Point winner who wasn't disgraced when fourth in Hexham novice hurdle last month. However, was let down by her jumping on chasing bow at same course since (also reportedly bled) since and makes limited appeal.

    Verdict
Headstrong maiden over hurdles who typically went with plenty of exuberance in front before fading into fourth on chase debut at Ffos Las (2m, good) last month. Eased 2 lb and this 5-y-o appeals as the type to do better in this sphere, particularly when he learns to settle.

Suited by a change of tactics when landing low-grade C&D handicap from the front last month. However, well held both starts since (over hurdles last time) and she's readily passed over.

    Verdict
Got off the mark in 2m maiden hurdle at Wincanton in April 2023 for Nicky Henderson. It's been largely downhill since, though, and while he hinted at a revival when third over C&D last time, others make more appeal from a win point of view.
