Windsor

Tomorrow, ChaseClass 32m6f

With the promise of better to come from this 7-y-o over fences, AVIATION earns the vote. He left his reappearance/chase debut a long way behind when going close at Newbury and this stiffer test should be in his favour. Gericault Roque hasn't been seen much in recent years but he's slipped to a dangerous mark and looks a strong candidate with Harry Cobden booked, while Westerninthepark is also greatly respected back at a more suitable trip.

Positive start for Warren Greatrex last term, bagging handicaps chases at Southwell and Haydock (both at around 2½m). Good start to this campaign when runner-up at Bangor and while he wasn't in the same form next time, it would be no surprise were he to bounce back with a bold show.

Made up into a fairly useful winning hurdler last term and has shaped with promise on back of a wind op this term, second of 9 in a Newbury handicap chase (19.8f, good to soft) last time. Remains open to improvement and he's a must for the shortlist.

Boasts some solid form in this sphere, not least his cracking second of 24 in the Ultima at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival. Proved that ability remains intact in 2 runs following a monster absence last term and interesting on this seasonal reappearance with Harry Cobden booked.

    Verdict
Bumper/dual-hurdles winner who made a successful start in this sphere at Stratford last season. Largely creditable efforts in defeat thereafter and he's of strong interest back down in trip here having found 3¼m too much of a test at Carlisle and Aintree on his 2 starts so far this season.

Winning pointer who displayed fairly useful form when runner-up on his first two appearances in maiden hurdles last winter. Similarly, he has put in good shifts both starts switched to fences this season, latterlty in a Cheltenham handicap (25.2f, good). Couldn't rule out.

    Verdict
Ended last season on a downer but put that behind him when opening chase account with a wide-margin success over 2½m here in November, despite some shoddy jumping. Decent third over hurdles since and each-way chance if finding some fluency back in this sphere.

    Verdict
Looked better than ever when doubling his tally over fences with a decisive victory at Huntingdon (23.6f, soft) in the run-up to Christmas. Now 7 lb higher in a tougher race and consistency hasn't always been his forte but there's little doubt that he will be a danger to all if again on-song.

Not the most straightforward of types but proved consistent last term and it's hard to pick too many holes in this season's efforts, most recently finishing second in a decent handicap here (20.2f, good) on New Year's Day. Likely to give it a good shot once again.

    Verdict
Posted several creditable efforts in defeat for Ben Pauling during 2023/24 campaign and didn't do much wrong when a close third starting out for this yard on sole run last season. However, he presumably hasn't been the easiest to train and recent reappearance display at Chepstow wasn't inspiring.

Grade 1 hurdles winner who opened chase account at Aintree on Boxing Day 2023. Now 7 lb below that winning mark but this 9-y-o has a fair bit to prove having failed to complete on each of his last 4 starts. Hopes pinned on the first-time blinkers sparking a revival.

Dual winner over hurdles including at Fontwell on penultimate start, and he showed an aptitude for this discipline when last of 3 in minor event chase at Lingfield (2m, good) on debut over fences last month. May well build on that now that he steps back up in trip.
