Verdict
DEEPWATER ARTIST (9) opts to run here rather than race 6 on the card. He was solid in his debut campaign, trialling well before winning at Albury on debut. Draws nicely for Guymer and while he hasn't trialled coming in, he has a very nice profile to take the next step this campaign. CHRISTMAS STAR (8) disappointed fresh but has been solid since, ending up 1.7L off the winner at the Sapphire Coast most recently. Needs a touch of luck from the draw, but she's inching towards another win. Can make her presence felt. IOWNA BENZ (4) only had one run last campaign before a 92-day break. She's now with the Pepper stable and lines up on the fresh side where she is a winner. She still has plenty of upside being a lightly raced mare and she'll be tough to run down if she's at her best. GIZA (10) is a handy type on her day and the inside draw can see her in the finish on resumption. TIDAL RUSH (2) is better than we saw last start and can bounce back.

VerdictThird-up today and won third-up previously. Resuming tracked the speed and boxed on steadily 4th of 8 at Sapphire Coast Bm66 on December 1 over 1000m, slow going 1.75 len behind Flip The Switch with 59.5kg at $10. Last start raced on the speed throughout before fading to run last of 10 at Canberra Bm65 on December 28 over 1000m, 10 len behind Famoso with 60kg at $21. Happy to risk.- 7. Felix Pereon
