MATSUDA (6) narrowly on top. He was coming along nicely prior to last time when just fair in the Derby Preview at Flemington over 1800m, beaten five lengths there. The run prior behind leading Derby hope Engine Of War at Sandown Hillside reads very well for this. SAVISANTA (7) has just found one better at both starts to date over shorter trips and now looks ideally suited rising to 1744m. Drawn wide is some issue for the stable who like to be conservative but with the right run he'll go close. CHRONIC (1) is going okay, good behind Savisanta last time out. Not sure he can turn the tables but he'll run well. FABULOUS FIANO (5) was just fair on debut here and can be an improver up in trip. BUTTERFLY BABE (8) got warm late on debut at Geelong and should relish the ground.
