LAYBUY (6) led and won comfortably over 1750m at Geelong and then followed with a 1.3L defeat at Tatura over 1980m, racing handy. Keeps the 2kg claim and may control the race. Fitter again and will take catching. MASH AND GRAVY (11) is hard-fit, and his effort at Warrnambool two back would see him competitive in race that has been weakened by scratchings. CUBAN DAWN (1) deserved the last-start maiden win to follow a string of consistent efforts. Freshened since but has trialled and could go on with it. MARLIN (3) was solid as favourite last time and has placed in two of three attempts at this course and distance. CIRCA (5) won't be far away.
