Verdict
TAJANA (1) was unsuited by a heavy track when being beaten as the favourite 9 weeks ago at Riccarton. The winkers come off, and on a firmer surface, she is good enough to bounce back and take this out. Follow your money. WAIMEA BAY (7) did well on debut over 1400m when finishing third, and then stepped up to a mile and bolted in at Ruakaka 11 days ago. This is much tougher, but she is held in high regard by her stable and can repeat the dose. FAIRY DREAM (2) caught the eye with a big finish for fourth at Ellerslie in the Eight Carat Classic at G2 level there just over 3 weeks ago. She has a good gate, and with the blinkers on, she should be right in the finish here. Each way. THE DIRTY DEE (3) hit the line with purpose here 6 weeks ago when finishing runner-up by a neck in a good field over 1400m. The extra furlong is ideal, and she has to be respected. IFFIGIVE (10) is still a maiden, but is showing plenty of potential. She will be at a good price, and can figure in the top 4 here.

Previous preparation first-up won by 0.8 len Ruakaka G3 Northland Breeders Stakes August 16 over 1200m in the wet defeating Yokozuna carrying 55kg at $11.60.
