GOLDRUSH GURU (1) drops back sharply in class after tackling the G1 Australian Derby at Randwick. Has struggled to threaten of late but has been facing elite company. Expect him to give a much sharper account of himself in this easier line-up. ATHANATOS (2) is thriving this prep, following a Flemington win with a gritty second in the LR Port Adelaide Guineas. Stackhouse sticks and he looks well placed to strike again. SNOOPY NOW (5) made a big impression when storming home to win the Port Adelaide Guineas. Extra ground looks a plus and he’s trending the right way. Serious threat. SCINTILLANTE (11) also comes through the Guineas, rounding out the placings with a strong closing effort. With Shinn reuniting and a rise in trip, he's a definite threat. Can only beat what's in front of you, and that's exactly what COMPRESSING (8) has done. Drawn sticky but gets a key booking in Brown. Don't dismiss easily.
