CLEW BAY (12) has been steadily improving with racing this season, and steps up to a middle distance for the first time. She cops a nasty gate, especially at this starting position, but with some early luck, she will be hard to hold out. RELIABLE SQUEEZE (10) capped off some improving form with a big maiden win over this trip in a special conditions field at Ellerslie, which included race winners, and she has to be among the hardest to beat again, despite drawing wide. SIR BRUCE (1) has been runner-up in 2 of his 3 starts this prep, all of them at New Plymouth. He wouldn't mind some cut in the ground, and he can go one better. ENTERPRISE GEM (9) is heading the right way with her form and is up from the South for the Pittmans. Stick with her on an each-way basis. PROTHEATRICS (14) can mix her form, and she was not far off the second pick when finishing third in the same race last time out. She has a handy gate, and she is good enough to be competitive again.
