LA PLAGE (7) was ridden closer to the pace last Monday and battled on fairly to finish fourth over 1450m at Tatura. Fitter for two runs back from a spell and the step up in distance is ideal. Drawn well so everything points towards a big run. STAR EMPIRE (4) relinquished an early lead then battled away just fairly when out of the placings over 1800m at Gundagai last time out. Returned a good figure over the mile at Wagga the run prior. Sure to make his presence felt. TOO BIG (5) hasn't won for over two years but is racing well. Made up good late ground to grab third most recently over this distance at Seymour, his fourth placing from seven tries at the mile. Must be respected. DUSTY'S DEEL (1) looked in need of the run when resuming over this trip at Warracknabeal 16 days ago. Might need one more but cannot be dismissed entirely. NOT THE CHOPS (2) bolted in at Berrigan last start. Much tougher assignment today but he lightly raced and open to improvement.
