World’s Top 5 Largest Casinos by Area

August 10, 2023

Over the years, builders and owners of mammoth casino structures have been busy creating some of the largest casino complexes that the world has ever seen.

Here we take a look at the top 5, with the qualifying criteria being how many square feet each casino facility spans. There is no doubt that some of these will shock some online casino players, especially when we reveal upfront that none of the top five are from the Las Vegas strip.

The Venetian – Macao (China)

While no Las Vegas-based casino features in this top 5, that does not mean that there is not a heavy dose of Sin City influence involved. Many casinos in the Chinese territory of Macau have tapped into their customer base’s pre-existing hunger for American brands, by aping famous old Nevada casinos and creating super-sized replicas.

One of these is The Venetian Macao, which covers a truly incredible 10,500,000 square feet of which 550,000 is dedicated to casino tables games, slots, and any other variety of casino game a player could think of.

As well as being the largest casino on the planet, the complex also boasts the largest hotel in Asia in 2021. Just as is the case in Las Vegas, the resort’s guests can pamper themselves with Venetian gondola trips, as well as taking a dip in one of four sumptuous swimming pools.

Wynn Palace – Macao (China)

Not wishing to be outdone by Las Vegas Sands – the company that owns The Venetian Macao – Wynne Resorts Ltd also moved East to build the Wynn Palace, a structure that takes up 4,800,000 square feet and whose casino floor covers 424,000 of that space.

Aside from the huge array of gaming options that the Wynn Palace provides, it also has its very own SkyCab Gondola, which suspends people over a lake that features magnificent fountains.

This is also the place to be for foodies, as the resort packs a culinary punch thanks to a whole host of Forbes FiveStar rated restaurants.

City of Dreams – Macau (China)

Coming in at number 3 is yet another Macau mega resort, in the form of the City of Dreams. It dedicates 420,000 square feet to its casino floor meaning it is only just pipped into third by the Wynne Palace.

The City of Dreams is easy to spot, consisting of four enormous towers called Morpheus, Nuwa, The Countdown Hotel, and the Grand Hyatt Macau.

WinStar World Casino and Resort – Oklahoma (USA)

Finally, a casino from the western world appears at number 4, but not one based in the sort of place people immediately imagine the world’s largest casino resorts to exist.

The WinStar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma opened its doors in 2003 and uses more than half of its total 600,000 square feet for the purpose of hosting casino games.

Foxwoods Resort Casino – Connecticut (USA)

Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut is the most established casino resort on this list, having shown staying power since its casino was constructed in 1992.

This resort is right up there when it comes to total floor space, weighing in with a mighty 9,000,000 square feet. The fact it only uses 344,000 square foot of that space for the casino floor means that for now it has to settle with 5th spot.
