About David Gutierrez
When it comes to Spanish poker, David Gutierrez has one of the most recognizable voices in the business. After all, he’s commentated on some of the biggest games on the European Poker Tour (EPT) for Staruniv. Born in Palencia in Spain, the felt didn’t really call to David for a long time. He spent the early part of his life studying computer networks and landing a job as a graphic designer. According to the man himself, he “worked in a thousand different things” before realizing poker was his true passion. Watching the EPT on television was a major turning point because it showed David that people of all backgrounds were welcome at the tables. So, after playing with friends in the 2000s, he gradually began to learn the basics and, as his skills improved, decided there was money to be made in the game’s early boom. Dedicating five years of his life to the game, David knuckled down and played as much as he could, especially online, often playing tournaments throughout the night. Even that wasn’t enough for him, though, so he moved around Europe to get as much access as he could, spending time in Portugal and the UK.
